Gracias a Dios (Thanks to God)

"Gracias A Dios"

Here in the DR, this phrase is sprinkled all throughout daily conversation.

How are you? I’m good, thanks to God.
How did work go today? Good, thanks to God.
How are you feeling? Better, thanks to God.
Did you arrive okay? Yes, thanks to God.
Did you get your homework done? Yes, thanks to God.

Sometimes I find myself saying this phrase just as a routine response in Spanish…Como estas? Estoy bien, Gracias a Dios. (How are you? I’m good, thanks to God.)

Thanks to God…

This month I want to take every day and sincerely and intentionally give thanks to God for specific things.
As I look around me, there's LOTS to be thankful for. Just being here should fill me with gratitude…but I don’t know about you, but I’m not always naturally grateful. That’s why this month I’m going to pick at least one thing every day to be thankful for.

This is mostly a discipline for my own heart, but I thought I would share these daily gratitudes on my blog so that I can show you just some of the many ways that God is working here and what He is doing- so we can praise Him and thank Him together.
